[Questions] About crafting, Free Company, and other things

Sorry, asking a lot of question. X'3 I checked the Beginner guide and some sites for information but there are still some things that I'm not sure of:

I've only started crafting. Since my starting city is Gridania, I took up Carpentry and Botanist. But I'm also thinking of getting Culinarian, Fishing, and Weaving/Tailoring as soon as I get my airship pass. Is crafting beneficial or which ones are potentially more useful?

I also notice that Free Company has levels, how does one level up their FC? Or will it accumulate as long as people are online? Or do we need to do guildhests and dungeons?

Never tried using duty finder yet. Nervous a little bit because you might pt with JP and I'm worried about miscommunication due to language barrier. Or are most of the dungeons after Satasha just straightforward?

I can't really answer the one on crafting or FC since I'm not sure myself, and I don't plan to level up crafting too much until the higher levels since crafting eats gil. You can try leveling gathering classes to sell stuff on the AH though. As for the FC levels, I'm curious as well, but it seems like we have already reached max level in FC ?

The dungeons after Satasha a quite straightforward, just look out for "hints" in the form of like "the lamps is emitting an eerie glow" or "bubbles starts to form on the surface" so that you won't get unnecessary damage or worse, a whole party wipe-out. And also, stay out of the AoE circle/cone~ Hmm.. maybe I should create a dungeon guide sometime...

Maybe I should just create one now.

FC can be leveled up by quests, levemetes, fates, etc. Anyway, our FC has already reached max level. As for the language barrier wise, you can use the simple built in language translator. EG: Type 'hello' and hit tab.

A built-in translator... I heard of it but didn't know how to activate. Awesome XD I should try that out later.

Edit. Oh! Also I just remembered.  There's also going to be Free Company housing. Though it's not implemented yet. ...I think?  Got any plan on where to establish? :3

There is an FC chest, right?

Although I haven't tried accessing it or I don't know if regular members can even, but is it possible to store gil there? Or is it only for items?

Yep you can store gil in the FC chest. Apparently the permission settings are a bit buggy Not sure what Einzo is gonna do about it.

I dabbled in Carpentry, admittedly because I wanted to make furniture. X'D I'm also kind of excited at the prospect of making chocobo stables where can raise and breed and a garden(?). I only know it is in individual housing, not sure about FC one. Indiv housing not available yet so I'm still thinking about it.

Wasn't able to get in Masamune last night due to World Full even no matter how much I spam. Crossing my fingers that I can login tonight. Else I sleep early and wake up at off peak hour to login. :3

Hello there Yarki, I'm not in the Einsof FC (or any FC) and I'm kinda in the newbie boat too, despite being a legacy player from 1.0.  Gonna throw in my 2 cents here.

First of all re: language barrier with the Duty Finder - don't worry too much about it, especially at the lower levels.  The game has a built in language selector, and you can select which langange parties to queue for - look out for these four letters, J E D F (J for Japan, E for English, D for- er- German? and F I think for French).  You can see these showing up  the Duty Finder screen, Friends List, and probably other places too.  There seems to be a decent amount of English players on there atm, at least in the past weeks for the lower level instances.  I have finished the first 5 dungeons using the Duty Finder and have had minimal issues.

As for crafting my experience might be out of whack with newer players, since I have a bunch of mats left over from 1.0, and have a few levels into the harvesting classes so mats have been easy for me to find (for the most part).  Can't speak for others, but for me crafting have been great for getting inexpensive newer gear, as well as earning Grand Company currency.  Having said that a lot of gear could be purchased via various NPCs, so if you have gil to spare you could always focus on leveling your main battle classes first.
