Title: A question about the guild ^^
Post by: emmanuel on December 06, 2012, 03:38:18 AM
Hi all  ;)

During the 1st CBT i wondered about the guild name because i was surprised by the fact that a SG guild has chosen a name that sounds like a German word (i m French and we are very close from Germany). After searching on wikipedia i found that this name was coming from a Herbew word (Ein Sof/Ayn Sof) that means something close to "unending/infinite". But i still have no answer about why using such a word instead of a Chinese one for a SG guild  :P

Anybody knows the true reason for using such a name ?

Well, all I know is what I've read from the 'About Us' page from the site. You should read it over too, it's actually quite an interesting history :P

Yeah. Give it a read when you are free and you will know why I use the word 'Einsof'. :P

Well i have already taken a look at the "about us" stuff but it didn't answered my question as far as i haven't seen anything about the origin of the guild in itself. I mean it explains the meaning of the guild's name but it doesn't speak about their origins. It jusy say that they knew each others since childhood and stuff like that. So i still don't know if the guild has been created by Asian, North American or European people with what is said in the about us section. I initially thought that the guild was a SG one but the guild's name made me wonder about it. And now i d say that the guild was probably created by NA or EU people. It would give more sense to the origin of the guild's name which comes from a Hebrew word as far as the Jewish community is a lot more present in North America or Europe than in Asia ^^

If Einzo is an Asian, it was created by Asian people. LOL~

Ok  ;) So why choosing a Hebrew word instead of a Chinese one ? I mean that you probably have many Chinese words that mean "endless/unending/infinite" isn't it ?  ;D

As mentioned, I just like the word and the meaning that's all. Besides, it is quite a unique word which people seldom see/ read or know. I also wanted something unique from the rest. Hebrew or whatever other languages is not really my cause for concern.

And well, with a unique name like this, there's no fear of having someone else steal the name for their own guild XDDD  Easier to create Einsof branches across games, I would think ^^

Ok so it's just a "random" choice in a way  ;D

I guess that it sounds kinda "exotic" for people outside NA or EU  :)

Eh.. Lol it was not random. Took a considerable amount of time to decide on the Guild name. The meaning of the word and uniqueness factor were taken into part of the consideration. Also preferred a simple and short name instead of "watever of watever" etc. Not really easy to find a Guild name that has a decent meaning which is not commonly used by others. Names like "Genesis", "Myrmidon", "Elite", "Gladiators", etc are waaaaaaaaaay too common.

Sure but still that's quite different to what you could expect from French players for exemple ^^ I mean that we would focus on names that use French words as far as we are French :P That's why i m surprised that you don't use a Chinese word that has the same signification than "einsof" instead of a Hebrew word as far as you aren't from Israel. Anyway it's not very important but i m curious  ;D
