ok, got the xonar STX. Did some tweaking with the dolby headphone settings and it sounded damn good. I can even tell a difference with my entry level siberia v2 headset. Can't imagine how it'll be like if i were to use those high quality headphone instead of gaming headsets. lol

ya, both the speakers and headphones plugged into sound card and does the software allow me to choose which output i want? Instead of having to plug in and out my headphones.

With regards to Xonar STX, does the software interface allow me to choose which output i want if i plug my 2.1 speakers into the Red & White RCA output and my headphone into the headphone out simultaneously?

ya, was looking at this card too but like you mentioned it's kind of outdated. Then i saw Creative recently came out with the Sound Blaster Z, Zx and ZxR but people say Creative doesn't produce quality products anymore. kind of in a dilemma now.

I'm currently using onboard sound, so just wondering if you guys have any dedicated sound cards to recommend.
