Good morning ladies and gents, this is BC_Animus from NZ here... Just discovered this place - not sure if I'll be hanging around yet, but from what I've read the folks seems nice.
Anyways long time gamer, started on the PC in the late 80s/early 90s and haven't looked back since.
Spend all of my non-work time pretty much on games, movies and listening to music and podcasts. Gadget lover and console gamer - own several major consoles, but mainly play MMOs on the PC nowadays. I am quiet & shy but hell of a nice guy. Consider my childhood days to be the golden age of gaming, with companies like Origin with their Ultimas and Privateers. For me MMOs are all about the people, and not about gear or loot.
Have to add too despite being a big MMO gamer who enjoys and values random interaction between players online, I have been burnt many times in recent years, and as a result have pretty much reverted into a skeptical and reclusive hermit. Guess I kinda feel that the online communities in these games have all gone downhill, partly due to a shift in focus in the games. That the developers and players are now focusing primarily on endless easy grinding of tokens and gear, with lore, exploration, social character interactions, cooperative team work, and other little things like that that I used to value all having been discarded or ignored.
Yeah I know, meh I sound very negative and jaded. In fact I actually consider myself the Skeptical Hero lol. Anyways guess that is one of the reasons why I'm here. The guild recruitment posts I have seen for some of the games, the various texts on the site, and the rules for the forums all seem pretty- well, friendly and welcoming.
I'm a nice bloke really, but to be honest I'm not much of a people person, so atm like I said I really don't know long I'll be hanging around, but, since I'm here, thought I would say 'ello, good morning, and a merry x'mas to you all.
Haha. Hello! Glad to see you drop by and welcome aboard! Yeah. Games nowadays are like that, that's why we are playing varieties of them and hoping to find the right one but to no avail.. yet. If you don't like one button click auto run to mobs/ one button click run to quests aka too simple a game without exploration, I can recommend FFXIV ARR. The quests will tell you where to go but there will be no auto run to quest function etc. You gotta get to that location and explore where the mobs are. Though the game is p2p, which may turn some people off. Other MMOs which you can look forward to are probably WildStar and ArcheAge which are likely to launch by the end of this year if there are no delays.
Anyway, good afternoon and merry x'mas to you too! :P
